Twitch.tv has been the top streaming platform since Amazon acquired Justin.tv. Since then, more people visit Twitch.tv than YouTube Gaming for real time streamers playing games. On an average day, there can exceed over 1 million viewers across Twitch. But slowly, gamers are not the only ones to stream on Twitch.
In mid 2017, Twitch opened a new category to stream on; Creative. Artists, graphic designers, crocheters, and now programmers have flocked to Twitch to show off their own talents. At the time of writing this blog post, the creative category has 8,000 active viewers. This number seems to only grow daily.
As of late 2017, a new category of "Programming" has opened on Twitch. Indie game programmers, large company developers, and even streamers who are just learning coding (like me!) are using Twitch as their platform of choice to showcase their work. Game Developers are using Twitch to give publicity to their game before it is even launched in alpha. Developers can also gain valuable input from viewers that normally companies would have to pay for!
Intel recently posted a video on YouTube showcasing Twitch as not just for gaming, but for Game Developers! Come and join the developers who are showcasing their thousands of hours of work, or the developers who are just starting another journey!
